How to Be a Normal Good Looking Girl from Inside and Outside
Steps
Work on the Inside
Maintain Your Integrity
1
Don't do anything you might regret later.
Secrets have a way of getting out, and when they do, people will often
judge you negatively. So either be careful of activities you choose to
participate in, or stop caring what other people think all together,
because no one likes it when you lie to them. Just be honest and
ethical.
Set Goals
1
Setting goals is important.
By focusing on a specific goal, you can push yourself to achieve more.
Start out with one or two goals for yourself (lose 10 pounds, make the
volleyball team, make the 'A' honor roll, save money and buy new
clothes, etc). Make a new sheet of paper for each goal, and write why
you want to do this, how you'll make this work, and when it will be done
by. It may sound pointless, but having a tangible copy of each goal
will help you to achieve them.
Emphasize Education
1
Obtain as much education as possible.
Life is full of learning experiences. You don't have to be in a
classroom to acquire knowledge. Every day is a new learning opportunity.
2
Do your best at school. People look up to smart and active people in the community.
3
Don't be afraid to ask for help from teachers and other students. There's no such thing as an stupid question. That's how you learn!
4
Get
involved in extra curricular activities such as school plays, musicals,
sports teams, individual sports, clubs, service groups, church
activities, dance, etc. Try anything to help yourself learn and grow in ways that will make you more interesting.
Read & Write
1
Read! Read good
books, classic literature, how-to books, and books that discuss hard
questions like, What is the purpose of life? What is freedom? What is
most important in life? etc. Always carry around a book you are reading.
Take it with you everywhere. You don't need to read it if other things
are going on, but if you have a moment, you can read. Fill your mind and
heart with good things and great ideas.
2
Keep a journal.
Write in it 4-5 times a week or more. It is worth the time. It will
give you a chance to think about your day and your week, and to reflect
on your relationships and experiences. It will help you see life as it
really is and appreciate the opportunities you enjoy and the time you
have. It will also help you consider who you are and who you want to be.
Keep a record of important events and set goals and record your
progress. Keep a record of the good things in your life. You may be
surprised how blessed you really are. If you think it's nerdy or uncool,
don't worry. It can be private and no one needs to know you keep it.
Exercise
1
Exercise!
Find a way to sweat - yes, really sweat - for 30 minutes at least 3 to 5
times every week. Take a dance class, go jogging, biking, join a hiking
club, play tennis, racket ball, soccer, basketball. Do aerobics. Do
something. It will improve your fitness, but more importantly it will
improve your outlook on life and the world. Exercise is a secret potion
to happiness and well being and being happy always makes you more
attractive. Being fit is always more attractive than not being fit. And
don't think you have to be a skinny model to be fit. Fit means you can
participate in all the activities that require some level of fitness. If
you can't, you may need to focus on this for a while to develop a
minimum level of health and fitness.
Work on the Outside
Don't Neglect Personal Hygiene & Grooming
1
Keep up on the personal hygiene. No one likes to be around a person who smells bad, or looks unclean.
2
Brush your teeth at morning and night. Brush thoroughly and for the proper amount of time. Dentists recommend brushing for 2 minutes.
3
Don't forget to floss.
Most cavities occur between teeth that is hard to clean with a brush.
Floss daily. Be careful not to damage your gums. Floss your teeth, not
your gums.
4
Shower every day with soap. Don't shower twice a day, though, because it will dry out your skin.
5
Wear antiperspirant/deodorant to keep you fresh smelling all day long. Shower again after sweating hard.
6
Shave your legs and armpits.
It doesn't matter if you live in Australia or America or England or
Scotland, shaving legs and armpits is a must-do thing. Leg stubble under
jeans can be excused but not with a skirt or shorts. Nobody wants to
see hair under your arms, so just take care of it regularly.
7
Your hair should be done.
Sometimes "done" may mean pulled back in one of several attractive
clips. Other times you might want to go to a lot of trouble to make it
bouncy or piled high with bows. On your worst days it may mean a pony
tail through the back of a cute baseball cap. Don't ever just let it be.
Hair can be a great asset when cared for properly but can detract from
your appearance if you just let it go. Even if you have no time to put
it up, make sure it is brushed and you have a ponytail holder with you.
Ironing your hair every once in a while (or even just blow drying it)
makes a difference! Just don't do it too often, it burns your hair, and
always use a bit of spray when you iron it. If your hair is very short
you obviously don't have to put it up - brush it and, optionally, pin it
back with some cute clips.
- Wash your hair regularly - every other day.
- Gently towel dry hair and let it air dry as often as possible. Blow drying is hard on your hair.
- Use conditioner to keep your hair looking healthy and alive.
Department store shampoo and conditioner will do a great job. You don't
need to go broke buying expensive stuff.
Wear Clean & Appropriate Clothing
1
Wear clean socks and underwear every day. If you don't want it on your nose, you don't want to wear it.
2
Make sure all the clothes you wear are clean.
Now to be honest most of your clothes can be worn a few times before
being washed. But of course you don't want to wear the same thing day
after day even if it is clean. Pants can be worn 2-3 times in a row if
you keep them relatively clean. Pants are not as noticeable as shirts
(pretty much all jeans look alike) so you can wear them a few days in a
row before washing - as long as they smell clean and you have not been
doing any strenuous activities in them. If you have your period, don't
rewear them!
- Many times, jeans can be stretched out of shape after a few days of
repeated use. They can become baggy and unflattering, so make sure to
wash them every couple of days!
3
Make sure the clothes you wear are classy and modest.
Many fashions promote revealing, tight-fitting, low-cut, high-cut, bare
shoulders, bare stomachs, etc., but in reality most guys are
embarrassed by these clothes and the girls who wear them. Of course it
can be titillating and arousing but it is out of place and good guys are
not comfortable with it. Don't let the clothes you wear be distracting.
Your best bet is attractive, modest, flattering clothes that do not
draw undue attention to your body. If you have a nice figure it will be
obvious in modest clothes. If you don't have a nice figure you certainly
don't want to expose it to the world. Modest is always best. You want
friends who like you because of who you are not because of how much skin
you can show. This goes for your close girl friends as well as for the
guys you date, and even just hang around with.
4
Shoes should be practical.
Don't be that girl who has to sit out because she can't play soccer in
her mini-skirt and wedges. High heels should be reserved for special
dress-up occasions. Low heels or pumps can work in many situations if
they are sturdy and comfy, but most of the time some cute athletic shoes
or sensible leather lace ups fit the bill for everyday life.
Keep Your Makeup Simple
1
Makeup should be simple.
Don't pack it on. Of course you want to minimize any flaws and
accentuate your best features. But if it looks too made up, fake,
extreme or distracting it makes you look fake. If you want people to
think you are real, then be real and look real. A touch of base, a hint
of blush, a bit of eye shadow, eyeliner, and mascara, sure you can help
make your eyes look better and your lips a bit more pink. But choose
colours that compliment your natural colouring, not to make you look a
painted lady.
Personal Accountability is Important
1
Stand up for what is right.
Whether it be an external issue or a problem between individuals, stand
up for what you believe in. If someone is putting you down, stand up
for yourself. No one has a right to treat you with disrespect. If
someone else is being abused, stand up for them and support them. Listen
to others' ideas, and if they are unjust and not appropriate, speak up.
Do not be afraid to stand up, even if you are alone. This just proves
how confident of a person you really are. Remember, it only takes one
person to make a huge difference.
2
Don't do anything destructive to yourself.
Respect your body. Think twice about drinking liquor, smoking
cigarettes, and eating bad food. Illegal drugs should be avoided. And be
careful if/when you engage in sexual activity.
Recognize True Beauty in Others
1
Recognize true beauty.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and everyone is beautiful in
their own way. Do not ever put anyone down, or tell them they're stupid
or ugly or point out their flaws, and do not ever let anyone tell you
that. Everyone has flaws, but if you recognize the positive things, that
is building confidence in others and in yourself. Be the shoulder to
cry on, everyone needs one at some point in their life. Always be there
to give advice and comfort. People will appreciate a good listener and a
few words of wisdom.
2
People like people who are interested in them.
Make the extra effort to get to know the people in your wold. Learn to
enjoy finding out about people by talking to them. Don't talk about
yourself. People who like to talk just about themselves are boring.
Learn to love and appreciate everyone. Never talk negatively about
anyone especially behind their back. Try not to talk about others
without them around - this is called gossip. Nobody really likes a
gossip. It breaks down trust and will handicap your ability to have and
keep friends.
Discover Something New
1
Try something new when the opportunity arises.
If you get invited to go snow skiing - give it a try. Go horse back
riding if you get a chance. Experiencing new and different activities
will make you a more balanced person.
2
Find
15 to 30 minutes almost every day to develop a special talent such as
playing a musical instrument, painting, drawing, sewing, writing,
acting, tutoring, cooking, something. Become really good at it. It
will build your self confidence and create opportunities to have fun
with friends and your future partner.
Believe in Yourself
1
Even if you're feeling really down about yourself, act confident.
You don't have to pretend to be something you're not, but don't
announce to the world you're upset. Stay calm and collected. You will be
respected if you show your feelings, but in a confident way.
2
Most importantly, just be happy to be you.
You are a beautiful human being with many unique gifts and talents.
Develop those gifts and talents and you will have much to offer.
